WinFS is back?

Skeptics called the next-generation Windows File System (WinFS), nothing more than vaporware after a capricious Redmond decided to rip it from Longhorn (now, Windows Vista). But it seems the company has no intentions of giving up, reports Microsoft-Watch.com. In fact, there are plans to backport the file system into Windows XP.

The WinFS Team Blog, however, doesn't look very promising.

Still they fail to achieve the stability of a basic FAT file system on any newcoming file systems. NTFS 5.1 was a boost but not as successful as the parent FAT and FAT32. Let's simply anticipate that the write marking on the hard disk sectors will be improved to less than a Byte (now its 4Bytes min on NTFS)so that more information can be stored on our lovable HDD. Also the indexing system has to be reimproved to expect a stable categorisation of data under similar names and marks. I am waiting for the beta of Longhorn Server.....I'm Lovin it....
